Mercedes Benz ‘Intelligent Aerodynamic Automobile’ Unveiled in Frankfurt

Mercedes Benz has just unveiled a new concept car wearing only the IAA name on its rear. It carries a muscular profile and a four-door coupe body style with elements of F-150 sewn into its overall design. The dimensions of this concept are as follows. 5040mm in length in design mode, which is 100mm longer than the current model CLS. In aerodynamic mode; with its body fully extended, this concept car stretches to 5430mm which makes it 185mm longer than the current best-selling S-Class. Width and height are 1995mm and 1305mm respectively.

The 2975mm wheelbase is 100mm more than the current E-Class and CLS which means better cabin space. This concept car rides on the latest evolution of Mercedes’ MRA platform.

Mercedes-Benz says that his concept has a drag coefficient of 0.19 and will run on a petrol driven plug in hybrid powertrain. On the move, this concept switches from ‘design’ mode to aerodynamic mode when it reaches 50mph and the tail section of the concept will extend to increase overall length by 390mm.
