For the first time in it’s history, Rolls-Royce has produced a car to celebrate the anniversary of a nation. Much like Ferrari announced earlier in the week, the SG50 Ghost Series II was created to celebrate Singapore’s 50th year of Independence- and like the Ferrari, the touches are very subtle.
Colour schemes seem to be reversed this time round, perhaps an exercise in restraint on the part of Rolls-Royce. The base colour is English White, a deep glossy white paint that looks great whether in the sunlight or the glow of streetlights. Accents are done in Consort Red, being a nice offset to the white paint and falling in line with the Singapore flag.
Open the door and the first thing you spot are the commemorative scuff plates- complete with a Singaporean skyline silhouette.
Seats are finished in red leather to contrast the exterior. There are also Merlions embroidered on the headrests- again, starkly similar to Ferrari’s SG50 model.
While there have been various country-specific editions of luxury cars and supercars produced over time, rarely has there been a model to commemorate the anniversary of a country- and perhaps in that sense, these models will appreciate over time.
