Reports suggest that both the Cayman and Boxster models from Porsche will be given smaller, more efficient engines. The cars will now be equipped with 2-litre 4-cylinder turbo engines, down from the current 6 cylinder 2.7- and 3.4-litre versions. The smaller engine, though turbocharged, will only produce 240 hp from the Boxster’s current 265 hp and the Cayman’s 275 hp outputs.
Don’t worry though, Porsche say the loss in power is almost unperceivable thanks to the increase in torque and their ‘e-boost’ system that eliminates turbo lag. We’ve yet to see any official details from Porsche but in all likelihood this change in powerplants will be revealed at an upcoming motor show.
