Honda NSX To Return in 2012

The Honda NSX supercar is back. This Acura/Honda supercar (pictured above actually) previews a successor to the Honda NSX. Recently, Honda CEO Takanobu Ito gave hints about the arrival of the NSX. He said that the company’s plans to build an exotic sports car are proceeding. Ito said about six months ago that Honda wants to relaunch a high-performance sports car such as the NSX. A 3.5-litre V6 will be used to drive the rear wheels and in-wheel electric motors to turn the fronts, delivering more than 400bhp. Honda is still hard at work at perfecting the technology a decade later.
A source said that Honda aims to create a supercar that “breaks the mould while creating a new technological package.” Honda is developing a VTEC V6 engine of between 3.5 to 3.7 liters while lithium-ion batteries will power the twin electric motor set-up. A plug-in recharge system will be used for a small electric-only range. As a result, torque is given a major boost and it shows off the high-revving quality that has made Hondas popular. Set to go on sale by 2014, this vehicle will have a weight-saving aluminum body.
