PETRONAS Dagangan Berhad (PDB) partnered Superbikers Association Malaysian (SAM) for the first time in organising the Kembara 1Malaysia where 254 superbikes were fueled with PETRONAS’ Formula One technology-inspired PRIMAX 95 Xtra. In support of the Government’s effort to promote patriotism among Malaysians, the expedition was organised in celebration of the 54th Independence Day and Malaysia Day, aimed at reigniting national patriotism. Flagged off on 16 September by Sultan of Johor, Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar, the expedition saw 400 participants comprising individuals, army and police personnel as well as various bikers’ clubs in the country traversing across Peninsular Malaysia with the cooperation of Polis Diraja Malaysia (PDRM) and Angkatan Tentera Malaysia (ATM).
In anticipation of the 3000km ride during the week-long expedition, SAM had approached PDB, the country’s premier retailer of downstream oil and gas products, to sponsor PETRONAS PRIMAX 95 Xtra to fuel the expedition throughout the country. This breakthrough fuel has proven to deliver superior power and provide better fuel consumption as well as greater savings.
Highlighting the difference in this year’s expedition, President of SAM, Datuk Abdul Halim Suleiman explained that during the expedition, the participants spent their nights at 13 police and army camps across the country to develop a better understanding of the roles these personnel play in keeping the peace in the country. The week-long expedition also saw the participation of Naza World, Chevrolet, Naza Bikes, Luvolux and Takaful Ikhlas as its sponsors.
