Looking through some old footage and news articles, we found this very interesting home-made amphibious masterpiece. It’s called the Sea Lion. Although that doesn’t sound as aggressive as other American cars named after animals such as the Viper, Firebird, or Cobra, the Sea Lion still packs a very mean punch.
Its creator, Marc Witt saw fit to use a Mazda 13B – a very popular rotary engine – for this build. The engine produces enough power to get the car-boat up past the 200km/h mark! It’s no slouch in the water either. With a simple flick of the switch, the Wankel motor becomes a 100km/h-capable speedboat.
The car went on sale in 2012 for $259,500 and has drifted off the scene in a slightly underwhelming way. We thought we’d repost this old video to show just that with enough hard work, anything is posible.
