The green light has been given for the next-generation Mitsubishi EVO XI to be a HYBRID. Will this diminish the appeal of the EVO. Can they copy the blow-off valve sexy sound? Will the turbo whine be imitated? Well according to company president Osamu Masuko, this new Evo XI will be powered by a diesel-electric hybrid powertrain which is in-line with the tightening emissions regulations in mature markets. Thanks to the improved torque of the diesel engine and the electric motor, the new Mitsubishi Evo XI will be capable to sprint from 0 to 62 mph in under five seconds, yet delivering CO2 emissions of less than 200 g/km. The new EVO XI is expected to receive a revised version of the same system. The all-new EVO is expected to hit the market within three years, according to company president Osamu Masuko. “I have set the goal of developing a sporting car featuring electric power” said Masuko. We wait to see the final results.
