PROTON Holdings Bhd (‘PROTON’ or ‘the Company’) celebrates its 30th birthday today from when the first Saga model rolled out to the masses in 1985. In its bid to continuously promote the awareness on vehicle safety to its customers, PROTON starts its modest celebration with its customers by providing free 30 point safety inspection at all of its authorised service outlets nationwide.
The programme will be ongoing until 31 October 2015 in all PROTON authorised service centres nationwide. The 30 point inspection include checks on fluid level, battery, wiper blades, radiator cap, pedal operation, suspension system, steering linkage and ball joint system, cooling system, fuel and brake system as well as tyre pressure (including spare tyres). Other than the free 30 point inspection, customers will also be given free consultation on engine and car maintenance, educate on how to differentiate genuine parts against imitation parts as well as enjoy discounts on parts and other promotions.
As a kick-start to the free safety inspection, Dato’ Abdul Harith Abdullah, CEO of PROTON was with the media at the launch ceremony which was done at a Petronas station in Damansara-NKVE. “We would like to thank our fellow Malaysians for the support they have given to us for the last 30 years. Therefore, this is a small token to our customers to get closer to them instead of just waiting for them to send their cars to our service centres. Our teams will be stationed at 5 different areas consisting of Petronas stations and an R&R area to cater to the needs of customers who are already on the way to their Kampung and holiday destinations,” said Dato’ Harith.
As part of the 30th Anniversary, PROTON is also offering various discounts on selected parts such as absorber, brake, clutch and timing belt. Elaborating further, he said that since PROTON was established, PROTON’s role has gone beyond designing and building vehicles. The Company provides value across the business value chain and drive the landscape of Malaysia’s automotive industry.
Apart from that, he said as a car maker, PROTON also has a social responsibility to educate and promote safety awareness to users, especially in supporting the government’s call to reduce road accidents during the festive seasons and school holidays.
