Honda Malaysia recently presented one (1) unit of Civic Hybrid 1.3L to Vocational Education Training Academy (“VETA”) in Semenyih, Selangor for training purposes. The donation is part of the Company’s social responsibility to impart the knowledge of green technology knowledge to the students who are pursuing their education in automotive technology.
“Automobile technology is advancing rapidly and being green is the only way to create a sustainable living environment. Civic hybrid – the first hybrid model introduced in the country – is possibly the starting point for Malaysians to get acquainted with environmentally friendly technology,” said Mr. Yoichiro Ueno, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Honda Malaysia. Mr. Yoichiro added that, “We do this to extend the students’ knowledge about green technology. This donation is also in line with Honda’s mission to create awareness for green technology among Malaysians, especially the younger generation who will be joining the automotive industry in the future.”
Incorporated in January 2008, VETA is approved by the Department of Skills Development under the Ministry of Human Resources, Malaysia. The vocational training centre is set up to produce trained and competent skilled workers for the growing automotive market, particularly green technology, in the country.
“VETA is grateful for Honda Malaysia’s donation. Having an actual hybrid vehicle in the study lab will extend our student’s knowledge beyond theory. Hopefully, through extensive hands-on training, our students will be more well equipped with environmental friendly technical knowledge and inspiration when they join the workforce in the automotive industry later,” said Madam Roszida Binti Othman, Chief Executive Officer of VETA.
The handover ceremony took place in the Sales and Marketing office of Honda Malaysia in Petaling Jaya. To date, Honda Malaysia has donated eight units of used vehicle to various vocational training centers for training purposes.
