What started as a project to build the best little sports roadster, the Z4 has become a highly desireable product and best of all it is a ‘mans’ car designed by 2 women. In Malaysia, the Z4 is instantly recognised with its long hood and short rear. Now comes an all new Z4 with more technology and even beter drive dynamics. BMW Malaysia unveiled this all new Z4 yesterday at an asking price from RM358,000.00 putting a possile dent in the sales of the all new SLK from Mercedes Benz. Both version come with a new engine. The two-litre turbo engines of both variants come with twin-scroll turbocharging, VALVETRONIC variable valve control and Double-Vanos variable camshaft control, equating to outputs of 135 kW/ 184 hp and 270 Nm’s of Torque in the BMW Z4 sDrive20i and 180 kW/ 245 hp and 350 Nm’s of Torque in the BMW Z4 sDrive28i M Sport. Through the use of lightweight all-aluminium crankcases both variants also feature lower front-axle loads which have further improved agility and handling compared to their predecessors. The new BMW Z4 sDrive20i achieves the 0-100km/h sprint in 7.2 seconds whilst the new BMW Z4 sDrive28i M Sport is able to do so in a astonishing 5.7 seconds.
This new BMW four-cylinder engines includes efficient driving at low engine revolutions which further helps to minimise fuel consumption as well as engine noise. In terms of efficiency, both models consume a total of 6.8 liters per 100 kilometer with carbon emissions amounting to a mere 159 grams per kilometer. As a further acknowledgement to BMW’s Efficient Dynamics vision, the new BMW Z4 also introduces Brake Energy Regeneration as a standard feature. Both the variants also feature BMW’s revolutionary 8-speed automatic transmission with paddles on the sport steering wheel.
