Yes, the legendary Toyota Supra will be revived with the blessings of the Toyota management. With the huge success of the Nissan GT-R (Skyline) and the noise that the upcoming Honda NSX is making, Toyota now wants to have a rival in their showrooms and the Supra is the logical answer.
The next Supra will use the same chassis as the GRMN (Gazoo Racing Meister of Nurburgring – named after expert Hiromu Naruse who died when driving a prototype of the Lexus LFA) MRS prototype, which has already undergone testing at Fuji Speedway. The new Toyota Supra will carry an all-wheel-drive system and generate over 400 bhp which is a good start but we suggest they look further on with their proposed powertrain as the Nissan GT-R produces some 545bhp and the new NSX will have more power than the GT-R. This Toyota supercar is rumored to use a mid-engine-mounted, 3.5-liter V6 engine mated to a gearbox probably borrowed from the Lexus IS-F, tuned in order to obtain impressive performances.
