The Mazda CX-5 is enjoying overwhelming sales in all markets that it has been launched. Malaysian sales have surpassed 1,000 units in just 2 months. Australia has seen more than 2,500 units sold in just 2 months plus. The story in Japan is equally impressive with CX-5 orders totalling approximately 16,000 units since its mid-February 2012 launch. With the annual CX-5 sales target for Japan initially set at 12,000, the level of interest so far has well and truly surpassed expectations. Of the 16,000 CX-5’s already sold in Japan, diesel models are being snapped up like never before. Japanese CX-5 preference currently leans strongly in the favour of diesel with it making up about 80 percent of the model mix.
Russia leads the way for CX-5 sales in Europe with over 7,500 orders since its February launch. Germany follows closely behind although it should be noted that orders in excess of 5,000 have been achieved in just over one month. European media review has also been favourable with several leading motoring publications vouching for the quality of CX-5 and placing it ahead of key SUV competitors. North America was always going to be a key market for CX-5 and sales so far have proved this to be correct. In less than three months on sale, more than 10,000 CX-5s have been sold across the USA and Canada. The CX-5 is shaping up to be another worldwide phenomenon for Mazda.
