Chevrolet has launched an MPV version of the Cobalt sedan called the Spin. The model is destined to hit the South American and ASEAN markets this year. This compact MPV with a 2,620 millimeter (103 inch) wheelbase was designed by GM Brazil, the same team that made the Cobalt, and is being built in Sao Paulo, Brazil for the American market and for the ASEAN market it will be built in Indonesia. The Spin’s exterior design is simple with the de-facto Chevy split grille present and accounted for, as are eight exterior colors, including Summit White, Global Black, Desert Beige, Macaw Blue, Polaris Silver, Mond Gray, Rusk Gray and Lotus Green.
The interior will offer family friendly 32 accessory pockets while dual seven-inch headrest-mounted DVD screens will be optional. The Spin will seat up to seven people at once and can be converted to offer a luggage space of 1,668 liters.
The base model is the Spin LT with five seats, ABS, two airbags, powered windows, powered door locks, a height adjustable steering wheel, air conditioning and adjustable seats. Meanwhile the LTZ offers that third row of seats, parking sensors and a trip computer. Both versions are powered by the same 1.8-liter engine that delivers 106hp. This is offered either with standard five-speed manual or a six-speed automatic used in the Cruze sedan.
