The updates for the 2013 Land RoverLR2 will include the 2.0-liter turbocharged I-4 used on the Range Rover Evoque. The LR2 (which is known as Freelander 2 in Malaysia) will get multiple updates, the biggest of which is the 2013 Land Rover LR2. It will be offered with the four cylinder from the Evoque. The Evoque and new 2013 LR2 have about the same power output. The direct-injected 2.0-liter turbocharged I-4 produces 240 hp and 250 lb-ft of torque. The turbo-four replaces the LR2′s old 3.2-liter 230-hp and 234 lb-ft of toque I-6. Land Rover said that the model can accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in 8.2 seconds. The fuel economy rating of the LR2 is improved because of the lighter engine but Land Rover has yet to announce its consumption estimates.
The EPA rated the current LR2 with the I-6 at 15/22 mpg city/highway while the new four-pot of LR2 has a rating of 18/28 mpg when used on the Evoque. Just like before, the LR2′s engine is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission and full-time all-wheel drive. The exterior updates for the 2013 Land Rover LR2 are minor, including modified headlights and taillights. The 2013 LR2 interior is more modern. Meanwhile, the center stack is totally new and will get a 7-inch touch screen.
To follow the layout of the Evoque, buttons replace the Terrain Response dial. In addition, the LR2 will receive a new instrument panel that’s comparable to that of the Evoque and Range Rover Sport. The panel has a 5-inch colour information screen found between the speedometer and tachometer. Furthermore, the LR2 will be available with a standard leather interior, rear-view camera with hitch assist (for those who will be towing), and optional 825-watt 17-speaker sound system.
