Aston May Call DB9 Replacement ‘DB11’

Reports on Aston Martin’s DB9 replacement as starting to surface and it looks like it’s slated for a 2017 release date and that Aston will be skipping ahead and calling it the “DB11”. According to sources, the new model will feature a Ford V12, just as it did with the DB9, but with a turbocharged twist. Turbocharging will bring its displacement down from 6.0 litres and improve both power output and fuel efficiency, though no official figures are known at this point.

There will also be the more familiar V8 offering, before an AMG-sourced twin-turbo 4 litre V8 variant is offered. That engine, which is currently featured on the Mercedes-AMG GT S delivers 462 hp and 600 Nm of torque. The DB11 will ride on a new platform, which ought to be a tad lighter than the outgoing 1785 kg DB9. Power will be delivered to the rear wheels via a thoroughly new transmissions system that will be revealed when the car is official debuted at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show next March.
