Renault has released some preliminary details about its D-segment SUV which will be positioned above the recently unveiled Kadjar.
Renault’s senior vice president of marketing Michael Van der Sande said the seven-seater SUV will following the same naming strategy used on the Captur and Kadjar, meaning that it will adopt a moniker starting with either “C” or “K”, with “Koleos” remaining a possible solution. It won’t sit on top of the range as Renault will slot the new model below the Espace which will remain their range-topper.
It will primarily target Asian markets and will be mostly sold in countries where the Espace is not going to be commercialized. Renault promises it will be more than just a bigger Kadjar as they are targeting a different type of buyers and the car will have modified proportions and a higher driving position.
Sources speculate that the new seven-seat SUV from Renault will be around five meters long and will ride on the same CMF platform as the latest Nissan X-Trail from where it will inherit most engines.
