Craft-Bamboo is really pushing strong this year, it seems, with a variety of entries across multiple racing championships. The latest addition is a fourth entry for TCR International Series, in the form of Frank Yu. Hailing from Hong Kong, he will be piloting a SEAT Leon Cup Racer, fighting against numerous other touring car contenders in this support race. It will be his first time piloting the car on the weekend of the race, so he will be pushed to his limits to understand and adapt to it in such a short time frame.
Yu, a regular driver for Craft-Bamboo Racing in the GT Asia Series, is confident that the SEAT Leon two-litre turbo is a truly competitive package and he is determined to use his in-depth knowledge of the Sepang International Circuit to his advantage. His entry into the new TCR International Series compliments the already strong lineup of professional drivers from Team Craft-Bamboo Lukoil that will be vying for the full season championship.
Yu is a talented multi-discipline driver, racing in GT cars, sports prototypes and endurance events over the past eight seasons. Beginning his racing career in 2007 with the Asia GT challenge, he began to tackle more championships; developing his skills and gaining experience at the helm of different racing cars. Known for his GT Asia title challenges in recent years with Craft-Bamboo Racing, his greatest success involved winning the Malaysian Super Series Championship title in 2012 and taking P3 overall at the Dubai 24 hours in 2013.
In the pursuit of more experience and an even greater challenge, Yu’s entrance into the maiden TCR International Series race is another milestone in his already prominent racing career. Yu will be looking to take the fight to the touring car veterans and display the talent and dedication of the Craft-Bamboo Racing Team. The race weekend will take place alongside the Malaysian Formula 1 Grand Prix weekend from March 27-29. It will feature two practice sessions and one qualifying session, followed by two eight-lap sprint races held on Saturday and Sunday.
