Looks like there is a management shakeup at Stellantis Malaysia
Stellantis Malaysia made a huge impact when they started operations in early 2024. News started with the appointment of Malaysian, Jamie Francis Morais to the post of Managing Director, Stellantis Malaysia and then there was the ‘meet the team’ event which was held exactly year ago during Ramadan 2024 and the targets and plans for more automotive brands were shared by Daniel Gonzalez who was the Stellantis chief operating officer (Asean and General Distributors) at the time.
Fast forward to February 2025 (one year later) and Jamie Francis Morais has left Stellantis Malaysia and a few days later (5 days ago) Daniel Gonzalez is on a new journey as the President/CEO of Stellantis Mexico.
Meanwhile, the General Manager of after-sales Stellantis Malaysia, Alan Toby has also left the company.
So, what is happening at Stellantis Malaysia? Is it a reboot?
Meanwhile, the interim Stellantis Managing Director, Issac Yeo is ready to move the company forward with new models.
Peugeot models and the Leapmotor electric SUV are still on sale and the Leapmotor EV has found just 43 owners in January and February 2025. More can be done to promote this well built and equipped electric SUV.
Interestingly, we know that Alfa Romeo will be making an entry very very soon with a new partner ….. just months away and this is Alfa’s third return to Malaysia. Its first and very successful arrival was in the 1970’s with Milan Auto and this was followed by Sime Darby’s revival of the brand 18 months later under Sime Darby Auto Italia in August 2005.
However, in December 2013 Sime Darby Auto Italia retired the brand and now some 12 years later it will return in 2025 with 3 new models ready for sale.

There will be 2 SUV’s and a sports sedan. We will leave it to Alfa die hard enthusiasts to easily guess which models and its possible selling prices.

By the way, did you know that the last Alfa model to be sold brand new in Malaysia was the Alfa Romeo Giulietta in Malaysia and it was powered by a 1.4L TB MultiAir engine with a 6-speed gearbox. Priced at RM178,888 it found a few homes and today you can still see it on the road.
