BYD is already successful here in Malaysia, why not bring in these electric buses as well?
BYD, a global leader in new energy vehicles (NEVs) and power batteries, has marked a significant milestone with the unveiling of its latest innovation, the BYD BD11, the world’s first all-electric double-decker bus.
The debut event took place at the London Bus Museum, a venue of historical significance for BYD, as it houses the first electric bus powered by a BYD K9E chassis, which has been serving the London public transport network. This innovative electric bus is set to transform London’s public transportation system as the BYD BD11 prepares to enter service later this year.
Moreover, tailored specifically for London, the BD11 is expected to become an essential part of the city’s eco-friendly transport network, with plans for a provincial model to be introduced soon after. The BYD BD11 will feature the latest BYD Blade Battery, providing exceptional range, performance, and fast charging capabilities.
With an industry-leading battery capacity of up to 532 kWh, it offers rapid dual-gun charging and pantograph fast charging capabilities of up to 500 kW. This means the BYD BD11 can be fully charged in just two hours, making it ideal for high-traffic urban environments.
The BD11’s Blade Battery is also designed to offer the safest energy storage system on the market, redefining safety standards while increasing driving range, stability and interior space for passengers. Additionally, the bus is equipped with an integrated thermal management system to optimize energy usage, providing both driver and passenger comfort.
On top of that, with active suspension control and a suite of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), the BYD BD11 ensures top-notch safety for everyone on board. As of now, there are over 1,800 BYD eBuses operating across the UK, covering more than 80 million miles, contributing to a reduction of 137 million kg of CO2 emissions.
BYD’s commitment to green innovation extends to public transport networks globally, with the launch of new eBus innovations like the B12 in the European market. But here’s the question, Since BYD electric buses are already making a significant impact in the UK, when will BYD bring these groundbreaking electric buses to Malaysia?
With Malaysia’s growing commitment to sustainable transport and reducing carbon emissions, it’s only a matter of time before the BYD BD11 hits Malaysian roads. Could this technology revolutionize public transportation in cities like Kuala Lumpur? With the BYD BD11’s eco-friendly features, it may just be the future of public transport in Malaysia.
