BYD Shares Skyrocket After It Integrates DeepSeek Into Its EVs

BYD and DeepSeek are now setting new standards and the world seems to agree

BYD electric vehicle (EV) stock prices reached an all-time high during Hong Kong trading on Tuesday, following the company’s announcement of a commitment to driver assistance technology through its collaboration with DeepSeek. Early in the trading session, BYD shares surged by 4 percent, pushing the stock price to a record high of 345 Hong Kong dollars about RM198).

This increase in stock value was fueled by investor optimism surrounding the company’s aggressive strategy to integrate autonomous driving technology into its EVs. The strong performance of BYD’s stock highlights the growing market interest in autonomous driving technology, especially as the company shifts its focus away from price-based competition.

Moreover, the collaboration between BYD and DeepSeek led to the development of the DiPilot driver-assistance system, which has set a new benchmark for vehicle safety in China. Since its launch, DiPilot has been praised for its advanced capabilities, making it a significant selling point for BYD’s EVs.

JD Vance, a key figure in the U.S. political landscape, emphasized the importance of the United States protecting its advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) against potential threats of weaponization. His remarks come at a time when global competition in the AI space is intensifying, with various countries and companies racing to achieve technological dominance.

On top of that, this growing rivalry in the AI sector further underscores the importance of innovations like BYD’s DiPilot system, which uses AI to enhance vehicle safety and automation. While BYD’s stock has soared in Hong Kong, Tesla has encountered challenges in the Chinese market, particularly with its Full-Self Driving system, which requires regulatory approval before it can be launched.

In contrast, BYD’s shift toward focusing on advanced driver assistance technology appears to be paying off as it strengthens its position in the competitive EV market. BYD founder Wang Chuanfu emphasized that modern smart driving technology, such as the DiPilot system, is now considered a vital safety feature.

However, analysts have raised concerns that the integration of DeepSeek’s technology could make it more difficult for BYD to enter Western markets, where security concerns surrounding AI technology are mounting. This is particularly relevant as international competition between major automakers continues to evolve, driving significant shifts in both industrial development and market strategies.
