The GAC AION RT and AION UT are two new electric vehicles that might be launched in Malaysia next year.
WTCA has been rolling out Aion models in Malaysia starting with the Y Plus and more recently with the ES.
There are many other contenders for the third launch in 2025 and now it looks like the pool of options has increased to include two more AION products – the RT and UT. Here’s what we know.
AION RT Specifications
The AION RT is an electric sedan designed with aerodynamic efficiency elements. Its exterior design incorporates a drag coefficient of 0.208 Cd, achieved a 28° forward lean and 20° rear slope. Exterior paint options include Moonlight White, Crystal Purple, Sea Glow Grey, and Sun Crown Red.
The wheels feature traditional Chinese lock-pattern designs, symbolizing protection and security.
Lighting elements include headlamps inspired by Chinese calligraphy and arrow-like rear lights, offering functional illumination and low-energy consumption.
The interior emphasizes comfort and usability. Seats are constructed from ultra-soft leather with integrated heating and cooling functions for climate adaptability.
Inspired by organic modernism and designs like Frank Lloyd Wright’s Fallingwater, the cabin layout uses a cantilevered dashboard and soft-touch materials that seamlessly transition throughout the space. Lighting systems mimic flowing water, and the cabin is customizable with color themes named Red Tea, Coconut Latte, and Black Coffee.
AION UT Specifications
The AION UT is a compact urban SUV targeting practical and technology-oriented consumers. Measuring 4,270 mm in length, 1,850 mm in width, and 1,575 mm in height, it provides a wheelbase of 2,750 mm, balancing maneuverability with interior space. The design focuses on a minimalist approach with sculpted proportions and digital influences.
Headlights feature a “bond” design for distinctiveness, complemented by a Digital Cube Icon for futuristic aesthetics. The exterior design aligns with the demands of a compact yet visually engaging urban vehicle.
Internally, the AION UT is equipped with dual screens: a 14.6-inch primary display and an 8.8-inch secondary screen. These systems integrate advanced AI functionality, offering intuitive control over infotainment and vehicle settings. The cabin emphasizes sustainability through material choices while maintaining a clean, cohesive layout. Soft-touch materials contribute to a “mobile loft” environment suitable for urban lifestyles.
The focus on sustainability extends throughout the AION UT’s design philosophy, balancing environmental responsibility with practical, modern features. No photos of the interior were shown.
