Mercedes-Benz Nurtures Excellence With Skillsmaster Competition And Apprenticeship

The Mercedes-Benz Skillsmaster Competition and Apprenticeship program is a major hit

Mercedes-Benz Malaysia recently concluded the prestigious Mercedes-Benz South East Asia II SkillsMaster Competition 2024, an event that highlighted the company’s unwavering commitment to service excellence and talent development across the region.

Alongside the competition, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia celebrated the graduation of 16 apprentices from its Advanced Modern Apprenticeship (AMA) Program. These dual milestones underscore the company’s dedication to fostering innovation, quality, and professional growth, both in Malaysia and beyond.

Moreover, Edmin Naidoo, Vice President of Customer Services, Mercedes-Benz Cars Malaysia & SEA II, expressed his gratitude to the Mercedes-Benz Service Teams, acknowledging their essential role in driving innovation and delivering exceptional service. He said, “Each member plays a vital role in solving complex challenges and consistently ensuring that our customers receive the best service experience.”

Naidoo emphasized the company’s commitment to nurturing future talent, noting that initiatives like the SkillsMaster Competition and the AMA Program are key to empowering young Malaysians with the expertise necessary to succeed in the rapidly evolving automotive industry.

These programs not only raise technical and professional standards but also reinforce Mercedes-Benz’s dedication to offering the Best Customer Experience. The SkillsMaster competition is designed to motivate customer service staff, enhancing their skills to international standards and ensuring Mercedes-Benz remains a leader in luxury automotive service.

On top of that, this year, 591 participants from 12 Southeast Asian markets competed in six categories: Qualified Maintenance Technician (QMT), Qualified System Technician (QST), Certified Diagnosis Technician (CDT), Certified Service Advisor (CSA), Qualified Parts Process Specialist (QPPS), and Top End Customer Care (TECC).

Over five months, participants advanced through rigorous rounds, testing their technical abilities, product knowledge, and alignment with the company’s high standards for safety, quality, and customer service. In addition to the competition, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia continues to develop automotive talent through its AMA Program.

This flagship initiative is designed to create a highly skilled workforce for the automotive sector. The graduates, now globally certified, will join Mercedes-Benz’s customer service network, supported by over 1,000 skilled service personnel in Malaysia. The program provides students with qualifications such as the City & Guilds Level 3 Diploma in Light Vehicle Maintenance, the Malaysia Skills Certificate Level 3, and Mercedes-Benz’s High Voltage Qualification.

Mercedes-Benz Malaysia invests approximately RM100,000 per student in the AMA Program, underscoring its commitment to developing top-tier automotive professionals. Plus, through its partnership with Montfort Boys Town, the company inspires students to pursue careers with Mercedes-Benz as well.
