We now understand why this Haval H6 HEV is selling very well in Malaysia
This Haval H6 Hybrid SUV was launched in Malaysia in October 2024 and its selling price of RM139,800 shocked the rivals as it puts it right at the top of the ‘must test drive’ list of very competitive vehicle segment right now. That is why deliveries have been moving along fast and showrooms have been busy.
POINT 1: The RM110k to RM190k SUV segment in Malaysia is filled with choices from Japan, Korea and China and Malaysian buyers are spoilt for choice. However, at RM139k this Haval H6 represents the best value for money and we will explain in detail in the following paragraphs.
When Haval’s parent, Great Wall Motor made a bold undertaking a decade or so ago to go global, they needed to bring out their best production capabilities and high safety features to be ahead of the pack.
POINT 2: You must note that Great Wall Motor is NOT a young car manufacturer. Founded in 1984, they have moved across the globe in the last decade with a very fast pace. In South America, the African continent and the Middle East, their popularity is rising against many long established brands. Remember, these are nations with not the best road conditions and terrains and if Haval vehicles can last there, Malaysian and South East nations have no issues.
Now, the Haval H6 SUV is not a new nameplate. First introduced in China in 2011, the H6 has gained popularity with every new model.
Now this latest H6 arrives with a fuel sipping drivetrain moving along with a large well equipped SUV.
POINT 3: Yes, this Haval H6 is a C-segment SUV with a unique selling point under the hood. It is the only vehicle in its class to combine a 1.5L 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine with a high-powered electric motor that delivers a class best 243PS and 530Nm of torque.
A mechanism allows both the petrol and electric motors to deliver maximum output simultaneously through to the front wheels. The result is some extremely rapid acceleration which is 0-100km/h acceleration time of just 7.7 seconds, which is class-leading. More importantly, it gets 5.8L/100km under ideal conditions
This Chinese owned automotive company prides itself for its engineering. With this latest Haval it is all about the all new powertrain system and its dynamics on the road.
POINT 4: Ignite the 1.5-liter and it is quiet, whisper quiet. The cabin is very well insulated. Accelerate slowly and this H6 just glides along, hammer the accelerator and the turbocharger will impress even a speed junkie as maximum combined torque of 530Nm is delivered quickly from a low 1,500rpm engine revolution with a combined horsepower of 243hp which gives the engine a lot of tractability. Fuel consumption is even better when driven with less enthusiasm at a possible 5.8L per 100km. Not bad for a high riding vehicle that is capable of going from 0-100 km/h in 7.7.
POINT 5: When it comes to cabin features, this H6 does not disappoint. The Haval H6 comes with a lot of high-tech features including a 12.3″ infotainment unit with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, plus a 10.25″ digital instrument cluster with fluid animations.
Additional equipment includes a 360-degree camera with transparent chassis function, an 8-speaker audio system, a coloured heads-up display, wireless charging tray, 8-way power adjustable driver seat, “Boss Switch” for the front passenger seat, a panoramic sunroof, a rotary shift selector, and a negative-ion air cleaner.
Plus, lets not forget its 560 liters of cargo space in the rear which cane be expanded to 1,485 liters.
POINT 6: It looks great, drives brilliantly, its well built, inside and out and comes with all the necessary bells and whistles that is needed for Malaysians wanting to move into SUV ownership.
