0Xiaomi SU7 Ultra Just Made Nürburgring History And Social Media Is Buzzing
Xiaomi SU7 fastest lap has given German sports car manufacturers nightmares
Xiaomi SU7 Ultra 1548 HP Electric Hypercar Shatters Records On October 29th, 2024. The SU7 Ultra prototype is a track-focused version of Xiaomi’s sleek saloon and it has clocked a Nürburgring Nordschleife’s fastest lap ever for a four-door car, making it the fastest saloon to ever take on the Green Hell.
So, the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra lapped the Nürburgring, with a time of 6:46.874 and the very similar looking Porsche Taycan Turbo S broke the Nürburgring, with a record time of 7:33 seconds in August 2022.
Once the playground for Porsche, BMW M Cars, AMG infused Benz and even Renault Sport, this smartphone manufacturer has managed to rewrite the record books with their first offering.
Meanwhile, did you know that Xiaomi unveiled their mass-production version of the SU7 Ultra with a pre-order selling price of 814,900 yuan (about USD114,200). This EV is set for official sales release in March 2025.
Incidentally, the SU7 Ultra’s has three electric motors that combine to make a mind blowing 1,526 hp. The peak torque is a high 1,770 Nm. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 1.98 seconds. Its zero to 200 km/h (124 mph) acceleration is in 5.86 seconds. It runs a 1/4 mile in 9.23 seconds. The top speed is over 350 km/h. All these figures will have BMW M and AMG motorsports engineers having emergency meetings this coming weeks.
Taking the mild mannered SU7’s exterior, the SU7 Ultra is not a higher-end version of the SU7 MAX. Instead, it incorporates the racing performance and technology of the SU7 Ultra prototype.
Equipped with the same dual V8s + V6s tri-motor all-wheel-drive system as the prototype, the SU7 Ultra integrates the CATL-made Qilin 2.0 battery with a capacity of 93.7 kWh and a maximum discharge power of 1,330 kW.
This battery can output over 800 kW at a 20 percent. The new battery supports 5.2C DC charging, allowing the Ultra to charge from 10-80 percent in 11 minutes.
The Xiaomi SU7 Ultra equips the largest carbon ceramic brake discs on a sports car to date. The front brake disc is 430 mm x 40 mm, and the rear brake disc is slightly smaller at 410 mm x 32 mm. The maximum temperature of the ceramic brakes is said to be over 1300°C (2372°F).
Interestingly, this hyper sedan has Akebono 6-piston calipers in the front axle, and 4-piston calipers in the rear. The SU7 Ultra can stop from 100 km/h in 30.8 meters.
Previously, Xiaomi announced that the SU7 Ultra mass-production version had already received over 3680 pre-orders in just 10 minutes from its official launch. Goldman Sachs forecasted the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra sales will be only 4,000 units in 2025, but it looks like they will have to adjust their forecast now.
