The Peugeot 3008 has been a popular SUV for Malaysians looking for something chic and stylish, which only French auto manufacturers can deliver. Face-lifted a few years ago, it carries a very dynamic looking face and very functional cabin.
Under the hood, this Peugeot 3008 is powered by the 1.6L THP engine, a 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol motor with direct injection. It generates a respectable 167PS and 240Nm of torque, allowing it to deliver quite an exhilarating drive when there’s enough room on the open highway and still just sip some RON95 fuel.
The relatively high torque also makes this a great option even when fully-loaded with passengers and luggage. The 6-speed conventional automatic ensures long term reliability.
This powertrain partnership delivered respectable mileage driving to Seremban and back and still having enough to use when back in Kuala Lumpur city for almost a week.
We left Klang Valley early weekday and headed out on the PLUS highway to Seremban. In one hour and a bit we arrived at the Seremban toll plaza and switched on our in car Peugeot navigation to get our breakfast.
We were heading to the old part of town looking for nasi lemak and mee kari which was from the same Restaurant located inside ‘Bazaar Mains’ Seremban. We easily found it but by the time we found a parking spot and got to the restaurant, nasi lemak was sold out. So we ordered the mee kari.
Light, not so spicy and flavorful, we enjoyed our breakfast and continued our drive around Seremban. Next stop, historical landmarks and the must visit Negeri Sembilan museum.
With plenty to see, we spent a good 2 hours at this history filled location and learnt some new facts about this rather quiet state.
(make sure you download the parking app as walking around to find the ticket machine will result in you getting a parking ticket as the officers are waiting to nab you)
It was lunch time and we wanted to try the famous baked crab. We found the ‘Seremban Seafood Village’ restaurant easily. There are a few ‘Crab’ restaurants in the city, but this was recommended by local foodie relative who lived all their life in Seremban. Surprise Surprise, we decided to order the steamed crab instead (they have 5 choices to pick from) and also a Deep Fried sweet and sour fish.
Every other table in the restaurant was having the baked crab but we were glad we decided on the steamed crab as it was very fresh and the sweetness of the crab was not masked by over-whelming sauce.
The fresh fried fish was also very tasty and the sauce was perfect. Yes, we were full, but we needed desert.
A short drive out of the city to a suburb by a river. This was where we got to taste the famous Cendol Songkok Tinggi located in the heart of Kampung Jiboi Baru.
We ordered from the friendly staff and enjoyed every cold slurp. Not too sweet, fine shaved ice and priced right. There is also a variety of local Malay kampong dishes to be tried and this will be our next stop when heading south with another test drive car.
Time to head back to Klang Valley before peak hour traffic. Our in car navigation directed us back to the PLUS highway and we were on our way …… a little sleepy from all that food but very happy.
