Leapmotor Has Officially Produced Its 500,000th Vehicle Today

On 17 October, Leapmotor proudly announced a significant milestone: the 500,000th vehicle has rolled off its production line. Remarkably, this achievement comes just 100 days after the company celebrated reaching 400,000 cars produced. In recent months, Leapmotor has experienced impressive sales figures.
Both August and September saw sales surpassing 30,000 units, with over 10,000 sold in the last week of September alone. Overall, the company’s performance in the first nine months of the year reflects a staggering year-on-year increase of 94.6 percent, with total sales exceeding 170,000 vehicles.
Moreover, founded in 2015, Leapmotor introduced its first model, the unconventional S01 electric coupe, in 2019. This compact three-door vehicle diverged from conventional design norms for new entrants and, unfortunately, did not achieve strong sales, leading to its discontinuation.
However, the company gained traction with its second model, the T03, a small five-door city hatchback, marking a turning point in its growth trajectory. Currently, Leapmotor boasts a diverse lineup, including four models in the C series, three SUVs and one sedan.
On top of that, the C10 is notably designed as a global vehicle and made its debut at the 2023 IAA Munich Show, showcasing Leapmotor’s ambition to reach international markets. At the recent Paris Motor Show, Leapmotor unveiled its first model from the new B series, the B10.
This series is strategically priced between 100,000 and 150,000 yuan (approximately USD14,050 to USD21,050) in the Chinese market, making it more accessible than the C series, which ranges from 150,000 to 200,000 yuan (USD21,050 to USD28,100). Reports indicate that Leapmotor plans to expand its offerings with four distinct series, namely A, B, C, and D, each targeting different market segments.
In a significant move last October, Stellantis acquired a 20 percent stake in Leapmotor, subsequently establishing Leapmotor International, a joint venture where Stellantis holds a 51 percent controlling interest. This collaboration is set to facilitate the export of Leapmotor models and their production outside China.
What’s more, production of the T03 hatchback has already commenced at Stellantis’ plant in Poland, with the B10 expected to be the next model produced in Europe starting next year. Looking ahead, Leapmotor’s CEO, Zhu Jiangming, anticipates October sales will exceed 38,000 units.
