Scania Malaysia Relaunches The ‘Future Sustainability Leaders Fund’ With RKKSHK

Scania Malaysia is reaffirming its commitment to the new generation in Malaysia

Scania Malaysia has reintroduced its ‘Future Sustainability Leaders Fund’ by contributing to the innovative ‘Children Planting the Future’ Programme at Rumah Kanak-Kanak Sultanah Hajjah Kalsom (RKKSHK) in Penor, Kuantan.

The initiative was launched by Puan Murni Azraniza Bt Umar, Headmistress of RKKSHK, alongside Joyce Antar, Managing Director of Scania Southeast Asia. The event was attended by notable figures including Wan Noaimadudin Wan Mohamad Kamal, Area Service Manager of Scania Southeast Asia, Phang Yee Fong, Dealer Director for Region Central, and Puan Suryati Taha, Deputy Principal of RKKSHK, along with students and staff from RKKSHK and Scania Malaysia-Kuantan.

Moreover, Wan Noaimadudin remarked, “We were impressed with RKKSHK’s commitment to educating children on the value of sustainability. This aligns perfectly with Scania’s mission to engage in community initiatives and operate responsibly.”

Originally launched as the ‘Master Sustainability Fund’ in 2018, the fund has been revitalised with a new name and renewed purpose. The ‘Future Sustainability Leaders Fund’ aims to support primary schools across Malaysia in initiating curricular and extracurricular projects that emphasise sustainability.

On top of that, Joyce Antar expressed pride in the collaboration, stating, “One of our main objectives is to create a better tomorrow for both people and the planet. We are thrilled to support the ‘Children Planting the Future’ programme at RKKSHK and look forward to many more initiatives that foster future sustainability leaders in Malaysia.”

The RKKSHK programme encompasses various hands-on activities, including hydroponic farming, the installation of furniture made from recycled materials, pot planting in biodegradable pots with organic potting mix, and the planting of fruit trees throughout the school grounds.

Additionally, the children collaborated with students from Pahang Foundation College to paint a vibrant mural using environmentally friendly paints. A total of 123 students, aged 7 to 17, participated in making this event a success.

“This programme is the first of its kind at our school, made possible by Scania’s funding. Focusing on ‘Urban Farming’ and ‘Sustainable Lobby Design,’ we aim to teach our children the importance of sustainability for a better future for society and the environment,” Puan Murni stated.

Primary schools in Malaysia inspired by RKKSHK’s initiative are encouraged to apply for support from Scania Malaysia’s Future Sustainability Leaders Fund by submitting their sustainability project ideas to [email protected]. Through such partnerships, Scania aims to empower the next generation in their quest for sustainable solutions.
