By now, news should have broken out of the NISMO GTR’s victory in the Bathurst 12H Endurance race. Bathurst is one of the more intriguing tracks around the world, being a combination of a standard race track but having a mountain plonked straight in the middle of the course. The track is tight and twisty as it winds up and down the hill, making it difficult for racers to attack and overtake without risking serious damage.
Hence a lot of overtaking moves are taken during the more open sections before and after the mountain, and this requires a plot of planning and racecraft on the part of the drivers. Over the course of an endurance race, it’s not unknown for drivers to swap positions as they take different pit stops or run into various mishaps or lap traffic. But in eleventh hour (or the twelfth hour in this case) of any race, things begin to heat up. Racers fight for the top 3 positions, looking for any gap and taking any chance to get ahead. The video below shows how the NISMO GTR claimed victory in this endurance race, slipping past the rather questionable Bentley contender that was holding the lead.
