Maserati GranCabrio Folgore Debuts As Brand’s 1st Ever Electric Convertible

The Maserati GranCabrio Folgore has debuted alongside a limited “Tignanello” edition.

Maserati has launched the new GranCabrio Folgore – an all-electric version of their new GranCabrio. This makes it the first all-electric convertible from the brand. The Maserati GranCabrio Folgore is powered by three permanent magnet motors producing 760 horsepower combined and 1349Nm of torque. This all-wheel drive set-up allows it to sprint to 100km/h in just 2.8 seconds. 270kW DC fast charging makes up for its mediocre 375km range.

To celebrate its launch, they’ve partnered up with renowned Italian winemaker Marchesi Antinori to create a bespoke “Tignanello” edition which also coincides with the 50th anniversary of Antinori’s Tignanello wine.

The car’s exterior boasts a custom “Terra di Tignanello” paint job, inspired by the vineyard’s soil and the rich hues of wine barrels. Copper accents on the emblems and logos add a touch of luxury, complementing the sleek black soft top and wheels.

Inside, the GranCabrio Folgore Tignanello truly shines. The seats feature an innovative material called Vegea, derived from vineyard by-products, in a pattern reminiscent of vineyard rows. Dark briar wood panels with laser-etched details about Tignanello’s history adorn the interior, while subtle nods to both brands appear on the headrests and center console.

Klaus Busse, Maserati’s Head of Design, emphasized that this project exemplifies the company’s Fuoriserie customization program, which aims to create truly bespoke experiences for discerning customers.

The GranCabrio Folgore itself is a technological marvel, boasting cutting-edge 800V battery technology derived from Formula E racing. This system allows for impressive performance without compromising on the luxury and comfort Maserati is known for. The car also features practical innovations like a neck warmer and wind stopper for top-down driving in cooler weather.

This unique Maserati will be auctioned off at the prestigious Festival Napa Valley’s Arts for All Gala in California on July 14, with proceeds going to charity. The collaboration not only highlights the shared values of innovation and tradition between Maserati and Marchesi Antinori but also demonstrates the potential for luxury brands to create truly special products that tell a story.
