Contest to showcase the impressive fuel efficiency of the Nissan Almera 1.0L Turbo
Yes, it can be done, if you want to save money. We did a relaxed drive with the Nissan Almera 1.0L Turbo to Ipoh in about 2 hours 35 minutes and got an average fuel efficiency of about 24.0km/L (with the air-conditioning switched on driving an average speed of 85 to 95 km/h).
Meanwhile, an impressive recorded fuel efficiency of 28.61km/L was achieved by a participant at the Nissan Lightfoot Quest 2024 just this afternoon. Driver and Almera owner, En. Muhammad Nifail Bin Basri of Kuala Lumpur did it and got the first prize of RM1,500 + RM1,500 BHPetrol Vouchers.
Yes, he managed this remarkable feat in his Nissan Almera Turbo after completing the 203km route which started at the Nissan 3S Flagship Store in Petaling Jaya, Selangor and ending at Ipoh, Perak, consumed merely seven (7) litres of petrol for the entire trip.
Muhammad Nifail and his partner triumphed over 20 other Almera owners which also saw the second and third place finishers achieving impressive fuel consumption readings of 27.31km/L (RM1,000 + RM1,000 BHPetrol vouchers) and 27.14km/L (RM500 + RM500 BHPetrol vouchers) respectively.
“We are proud to be holding the Nissan Lightfoot Quest once again, this time to showcase the exceptional fuel efficiency of the Nissan Almera 1.0L Turbo. Not only is the Almera Turbo stylish and fun to drive, its technologically-advanced turbocharged powertrain allows it to be responsive yet frugal in everyday use.
With petrol prices expected to be adjusted upwards in the near future, the Nissan Almera Turbo is an even more compelling option in the B-sedan segment,” said Khoo Cheng Pah, Chief Executive Officer of Edaran Tan Chong Motor.
The Nissan Lightfoot Quest 2024 involved a total of 30 teams comprising 21 owners driving their own Almera Turbo and 9 members of the media in identical vehicles prepared by ETCM. The route covered a distance of 203km starting from the Nissan 3S Flagship Store in Petaling Jaya, Selangor and finishing at the Uniti Republic Café in Ipoh, Perak, with a pitstop at BHP Bandar Seri Botani, Ipoh where the fuel efficiency of each participating vehicle was tabulated and verified.
To ensure a level playing field and fuel efficiency levels that can be replicated in real-world conditions, every participating Almera Turbo were required to be in their original, unmodified condition conforming to factory specifications and manufactured between the year of 2020 and 2024.
Additionally, participating vehicles had to retain their original seats, door cards and spare wheel in the boot while drivers were also required to be accompanied by a passenger 18 years of age and above.
Aside from adhering to the stipulated route, the challenge had to be completed within three hours with each vehicle’s fuel lid secured with tamper-proof stickers which were inspected before the journey’s fuel efficiency was calculated (based on the three-click method) at the petrol pumps of BHPetrol Station at Bandar Seri Botani, Ipoh.
“I would like to thank all the participants of the Nissan Lightfoot Quest 2024, particularly the passionate Nissan Almera owners and members of the media for pushing their vehicles and challenging themselves to unlock commendable levels of fuel efficiency in the Nissan Almera Turbo.
I would like to extend my sincerest thanks and appreciation to BHPetrol on their invaluable sponsorship of this exciting and fun event. The winning entry of 28.61km/L is remarkable as this is much higher than the official fuel efficiency figures of the Nissan Almera Turbo at 18.4km/L. Congratulations to all the winners!” enthused Khoo.
