New Taycan Launched In Malaysia At The Porsche World Roadshow In Sepang

Porsche Malaysia is revving up excitement with the Porsche World Roadshow (PWRS) at Sepang International Circuit from June 20-29. This ultimate driving experience, led by certified international Porsche instructors, offers participants a chance to push top-tier Porsche models to their limits on the racetrack.

The event showcases an impressive lineup including the 911 Targa 4 GTS, 911 Turbo S, 911 GT3 RS, 718 Cayman GT4 RS, Spyder RS, Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid, Macan GTS, and new Panamera.

The Porsche experience also entails a short off-road course with the latest Porsche Cayenne – the first vehicle from the brand to be assembled outside of Europe. The Porsche Cayenne is locally-assembled at the Inokom facility in Kulim, Kedah.

Launch Of The New Porsche Taycan

Highlighting the event is the Malaysian premiere of the new Taycan, with prices starting from RM575,000. The updated Taycan boasts significant improvements:

  1. Enhanced power and acceleration
  2. Increased range (up to 678 km WLTP)
  3. Faster charging capabilities
  4. Improved display and control systems

Pricing starts at RM575,000 for the base Taycan and it arrives free of excise duty and import tax. Other variants are priced as such:

More Performance Packed

Updated Taycan models accelerate faster than before. The base Taycan now reaches 100 km/h in 4.8 seconds, while the Turbo S does it in 2.4 seconds – improvements of 0.6 and 0.4 seconds respectively. The Sport Chrono package offers a 10-second boost of up to 70 kW. Overall system output has increased, with the Taycan Turbo S now boasting 700 kW/952 PS.

Range Improvement

The new Taycan’s WLTP range has increased up to 678 km, a 35% improvement. It charges faster, reaching 320 kW at 800-volt DC stations. Charging from 10% to 80% can now take just 18 minutes, half the time of its predecessor, despite a larger 105 kWh battery capacity.

In Malaysia, Taycan owners receive complimentary Shell Recharge platinum membership with discounted rates for 360kW charging. Additionally, Porsche Centres offer free 350 kW charging for customers.

Batteries come with an 8-year warranty. The Taycan itself comes with a four-year warranty and a comprehensive four-year maintenance package.

Exterior Design Change

The Taycan’s design has been refined with updated front and rear styling. New headlights, including HD matrix technology on Turbo models, emphasize the car’s width. The rear features a redesigned light strip with an optional illuminated 3D Porsche logo. Turbo and Turbo S models now sport distinctive Turbonite accents both inside and out. Customers in Malaysia can opt for 20″ rims.

Updated control and display concept

The Taycan’s user interface has been optimized across all displays. A standard mode switch on the steering wheel now includes a push-to-pass button for certain models. Driver assistance controls are more intuitive, and Apple CarPlay integration has been enhanced. Video streaming is now available on central and passenger displays. In Malaysia, additional options 14-way electric comfort seats with memory, and a BOSE® Surround Sound System.

Taycan Turbo GT and the Taycan Turbo GT with Weissach package

The Taycan lineup now includes the high-performance Turbo GT and Turbo GT with Weissach package models. Key features include:

  1. Up to 815 kW overboost power
  2. 0-100 km/h in 2.3 seconds (2.2 with Weissach package)
  3. Top speed of 290 km/h (305 km/h for Weissach package)
  4. Enhanced pulse inverter and transmission
  5. Up to 1,340 Nm torque
  6. 555 km WLTP range
  7. Dynamic package with GT-specific suspension
  8. Aerodynamic improvements including front spoiler with aeroblades and adaptive rear spoiler
  9. Extensive use of carbon fiber components
  10. Distinctive styling cues including ‘Turbo GT’ logo and colored Porsche crests

The Turbo GT models represent the pinnacle of Taycan performance, with the Weissach package offering even more track-focused enhancements.
