Perodua honours PYTP graduates, gives out scholarships

Perodua recently honoured 23 Perodua Youth Training Programme (PYTP) graduates and awarded scholarships worth RM250,000 to 6 Perodua scholars here as part of its on-going Corporate Responsibility programme. The PYTP programme, which is an annual event since 1999, is Perodua’s unique corporate responsibility programme whereby the national car company develops and provides basic technical training for SPM leavers who are less academically inclined.

In addition to receiving the Sijil Kemahiran Malaysia 1 (SKM 1) certificate, the participants are also given monthly and daily allowances, lodging, transportation and medical benefits during their 6-month training programme. The successful graduates received their certificates and will be offered employment as assistant mechanic with Perodua after completing an interview session. Perodua has spent almost RM3.5 million since the programme was introduced in 1999 and has produced over 400 PYTP graduates. At the same event, Perodua also awarded scholarship totalling up to RM250,000 to 6 scholars who are currently pursuing their respective undergraduate studies in their respective local universities based on their academic and extracurricular achievements, communication skills, maturity as well as access to financial support. The scholarship award which first started in year 2008 has benefited students mainly from the lower income group throughout the country.
