BMW 2 Series Coupé Given Minor Facelift

The BMW 2 Series Coupé and its M2 variant have been given a minor facelift for 2024 and beyond.

BMW has given the 2 Series Coupé a comprehensive update for the latest model year keeping the controversial design of the 2021 model largely intact while providing more standard equipment. There’s also a new M2 to go along with it and this model gets a bump in power too.

Exterior Design Enhancements

The design of the 2 Series Coupé has been accentuated with the adoption of the M Sport package as standard across all models. This brings an aggressive M-specific design with larger air intakes, muscular side skirts, and a striking rear apron with vertical reflectors and a diffuser-like insert.

At the front, the BMW kidney grille surround now features a pearlescent chrome finish. The side skirts and lower rear apron are painted in the body color instead of black, while the diffuser insert gets a high-gloss black treatment for a contrasting effect.

The range-topping BMW M240i xDrive Coupé receives its own unique design cues optimized for improved cooling and aerodynamics, including high-gloss black inserts for the side air intakes, a black spoiler lip on the front apron, a model-specific rear spoiler, and trapezoidal exhaust tips integrated into the rear apron.

Interior Upgrades and New Trim Options

The interior of the new 2 Series Coupé has been enhanced to deliver a more premium and sportier ambiance. Standard heated sports seats with M Performtex black upholstery combine a sporty design with sustainability. Optional perforated Sensatec upholstery is now available in black, cognac, and the new Tacora Red with decorative quilting, while a new black Vernasca leather with red accents is also on offer.

The M Sport package also brings an anthracite headliner, adding to the sporty feel. The centerpiece is the new BMW Curved Display, comprising a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 14.9-inch central touchscreen. It runs the latest BMW iDrive 8.5 infotainment system with QuickSelect functionality for intuitive operation.

New steering wheel options include an M leather wheel with a flattened bottom spoke design, red center marker, and contrast stitching in BMW M colors.

The range of interior trim strips has been expanded with fine wood options like Fineline light open-pore and Ash grey-blue open-pore, as well as an M Carbon Fiber trim.

Fresh Color and Wheel Options

Two new exterior paint colors join the palette for the 2 Series Coupé – Fire Red metallic and Skyscraper Grey metallic. The BMW M240i xDrive Coupé also gets an exclusive Zandvoort Blue solid paint option.

In terms of wheels, all models now come standard with 18-inch (M240i: 19-inch) M double-spoke bi-color alloys. Optional extras include new 19-inch double-spoke M wheels in Jet Black or bi-color finishes, as well as 19-inch BMW Individual Y-spoke bi-color alloys.

Enhanced Driving Dynamics

Under the hood, the 2 Series Coupé continues to offer a range of powerful and efficient four-cylinder petrol and diesel engines, topped by the 275kW/374hp 3.0-liter twin-turbo inline-six in the M240i xDrive model. The M2’s 3.0L engine gets bumped up from 460PS to 480PS and a 6-speed manual transmission is still available.

Now standard across the range is the M Sport suspension with a firmer tuning and stroke-dependent dampers for improved agility and cornering prowess. The four-cylinder models also get a variable sport steering system as standard.

The M240i is optionally available with the Adaptive M Chassis featuring electronically-controlled dampers with three modes, as well as an M Sport differential and M Sport brakes (optional on other models).
