2024 King Seiko KS1969 timepieces draw inspiration directly from the 1969 King Seiko 45KCM model.
In the late 1960s and through the 1970s, the King Seiko collection saw a wide range of innovative case shapes and designs as Seiko advanced in watchmaking technology and creativity. Now, a new King Seiko series inspired by a classic 1969 model is joining the lineup.
A Modern Interpretation of an Iconic King Seiko Design
The case design takes direct inspiration from the King Seiko 45KCM from 1969, whose curved silhouette influenced other King Seiko models that followed. While retaining the signature contoured shape, the new series reimagines it with a contemporary twist.
The watches feature a newly developed multi-row bracelet with a mix of mirror polish and brushed finishing for a subtle, light-reflective sparkle. The shorter bracelet links and low-profile slim case provide exceptional wearability and comfort on the wrist at just 9.9mm thick, made possible by modern manufacturing and the slimline 6L35 movement inside.
Dials Inspired by Tokyo’s Landscape
The new models are available with silver, purple, or green dials representing different aspects of Tokyo, the city that gave birth to King Seiko in 1961:
- Silver textured dial evoking Tokyo’s modern cityscape
- Purple “Edo purple” shade inspired by a traditional Japanese color
- Gradient green dial capturing Tokyo’s natural greenery
The three references will join the main King Seiko collection from July 2024 at Seiko Boutiques and select watch retailers worldwide.
Limited 100th Anniversary Dragon Edition
2024 marks 100 years since Seiko’s first wristwatch with the brand name on the dial in 1924. To commemorate this milestone, a limited edition joins the series with a special light blue-green dial texture inspired by the scales of a rising dragon – symbolizing Seiko’s progression into its next century, aligned with the 2024 zodiac animal.
Limited to 700 pieces, this commemorative 100th anniversary King Seiko will be available in July 2024 from select Seiko Boutiques and retailers around the world.
