2025 Infiniti QX80 Previewed In Japan, Is It Coming To Malaysia Next?

Infiniti used to sell cars here but shut down, is the QX80 its comeback vehicle?

The all-new 2025 Infiniti QX80 is set to boldly shake up the full-size luxury SUV segment when it is revealed next month. Ahead of its 20 March 2024 debut, Infiniti releases the first installment of its teaser video series, which provides a glimpse of the car’s powerful and rewarding drive, seamless comfort and advanced technology.

Previewed by the QX Monograph concept shown at the 2023 Pebble Beach Concours d‘Elegance, the production QX80 ushers in a bright new dawn for Infiniti. If we are lucky, it could even signal a new dawn for the brand in Malaysia as the Japanese luxury brand was previously selling cars in Malaysia but had to shut down.

Moreover, those who are familiar with Infiniti will already know that the brand started out as a luxury spin-off to Nissan, similar to what Acura is to Honda and Lexus to Toyota. The brand even sold a few cars here in Malaysia in the pat and this includes the QX80 SUV, which was in service for a long time before the brand shut down.

With that the brand has been largely silent and Nissan, under Edaran Tan Chong Motor here in Malaysia, had been doing its own thing. Well, with the Toyota Land Cruiser being a major success globally, if Infiniti can price the QX80 just right, then it may be a very attractive competitor and return to Malaysia too.

The all-new QX80 embodies Infiniti’s evolved design language called Artistry in Motion, seamlessly balancing form and function to evoke emotion. But, for now, the all-new QX80 remains under wraps.

On top of that, the all-new 2025 Infiniti QX80 will be revealed March 20 starting at 7 p.m. EST on a livestream, which will be shared closer to the reveal date. QX80 will also be on display at the 2024 New York International Auto Show, which is open to the public from Friday, March 29 through Sunday, 7 April 2024.

Now it should be noted that the Infiniti QX80 is already a successful model in the Middle East and U.S markets, so a fair question to ask would be why would the brand bother to bring RHD models to Malaysia when they can continue to optimise LHD versions for those 2 markets so hoping to see it here may be wishful thinking at best.

What do you guys think though? Will Infiniti mount a comeback to Malaysia with the QX80?
