Polestar 3 Production Begins In China, Further Production In The USA Planned

With the Polestar 3 already being in production, the Polestar 4 is up next

The production of Polestar 3 is now underway. With plans to start manufacturing in South Carolina, USA, by mid-2024, the electric SUV will be the first Polestar produced on two continents. Current production has started in Chengdu, China and the all-electric SUV is about to hit its intended markets very soon.

Being built on two separate continents, the Polestar 3 will serve markets in Asia, Europe, and the US to begin serving markets in Asia, Europe, and the US. It is available to order and starts at an MSRP of around USD84,000 (roughly RM400,050). This is quite an attractive price but will be higher in Malaysia.

Moreover, with production now underway, the Polestar 3 will be followed by a compact SUV called the Polestar 4, then the 5 sports sedan, and the Polestar 6 based on the automaker’s Roadster Concept. Production of these vehicles should be announced soon. Let’s wait and see when these cars begin production.

The first early production test series in the American factory has been completed successfully. This means that production there can begin very soon and when this happens, then the Polestar 3 will officially become the first product from the brand to be produced on two separate continents.

Thomas Ingenlath, Polestar CEO says, “This stunning car takes a significant step forward with the start of production marking an important milestone on our journey from a one- to three-car company this year. We have also achieved launch readiness at the factory in Ridgeville, South Carolina, and are well on track with our plans to start manufacturing Polestar 3 in the USA.”

On top of that, with production for the Polestar 3 already underway and with it set to become the first product from the brand to be produced on two different continents, it is playing a huge role in supporting the company’s growth ambitions across North America, Europe and Asia.

Now all that is left is for production of the Polestar 4 and 5 to also begin production at one of or both of these locations, or who knows? We might even see these vehicles be produced on more than one continent as well but maybe one or both of them may be different from the ones producing the Polestar 3.

What do you guys think though? Is it impressive that the Polestar 3 will soon be the first product from the Swedish automaker to be produced on 2 different continents or is that overkill?
