Ford has just announced that strong sales across the entire lineup in Malaysia helped drive 2014 retail sales up 31 percent to an all-time full-year record of 13,938 units. Ford finished the year on a high note with December sales that jumped 52 percent year-over-year to a monthly record of 1,432 units, capping off its best-ever quarter with sales increasing 22 percent to 3,721 units.
“As our momentum continues to grow, we’ve expanded our appeal to more new-to-Ford customers than ever before, right across the country, enabling back-to-back record sales years,” said David Westerman, managing director, Malaysia and Asia Pacific Emerging Markets, Ford Motor Company.
“With each global Ford vehicle that we introduce, we have the opportunity to serve customers in so many exciting and meaningful ways, which is helping to drive the Ford brand to new heights in Malaysia,” added Westerman.
The versatile Ranger pickup finished 2014 as the second best-selling pickup truck in Malaysia with full-year sales soaring 49 percent year-over-year to 8,577 units. This included its best-ever monthly performance in December with sales jumping 69 percent year-over-year to 996 units.
Ranger offers an unmatched safety package in Malaysia, including Ford’s Electronic Stability Programme (ESP) across all variants and ISOFIX mounts for child seats in the Wildtrak, as well as all XLT and XL Double Cab variants.

The sporty Fiesta also delivered a strong full-year performance in 2014 with sales rising 24 percent year-over-year to 3,119 units. Healthy demand for Fiesta is being driven by its internationally award-winning 1.0L EcoBoost engine variant, which delivers a class-leading combination of performance, fuel efficiency and emissions levels.
Ford expanded the Fiesta lineup with the addition of the high-performance Fiesta ST, a gutsy, compact performance car that boasts both responsiveness and raw power.
The EcoSport compact urban SUV, launched in the second half of the year, also contributed sales of 353 units, and is helping to define a whole new vehicle segment in Malaysia.
The EcoSport combines small-car practicality with the agility of a SUV, and delivers a segment-leading package of quality, safety, fuel-economy and value.
The stylish Kuga SUV delivered total sales of 882 units in 2014, while sales of the technology-packed Focus contributed sales of 939 units to Ford’s record year.
In 2014, Ford also boosted its presence in the commercial vehicle segment by kick-starting local assembly of the Transit van, as well as the official launch of a network of nine Commercial Vehicle (CV) Centres that cater to the unique sales and aftersales needs of commercial customers.
