GAC Aion S Plus EV Sedan Spotted In PJ. Brand Launch Here Soon?

We also saw this GAC Aion S Plus being tested around Subang Jaya last week

So last week, after attending the launch of the new Kymco AK550scooter, I was riding home with a friend and while we were passing Sunway into SS15, we noticed a very stylish looking car, clad in camo and we were a bit confused as to what it was, well now after spotting it in PJ, we have an idea what it may be. Let’s explore.

So right off the bat, we can see that this is a decently sized and very good looking sedan which means that I can finally be happy again as the humble sedan body type might just be making a comeback. As a sedan fanboy, this is great news for me and to see the video we took the other day, check out my instagram linked here.

Moreover, after the launch of the Proton S70, the new BYD Seal electric vehicle (EV) sedan which should be launching soon and now sightings of the GAC Aion S Plus testing under the guise of this camo, it looks like 024 is set to be the year the SUV and pickup truck finally make way for thee sedan to return.

Now, there is still no official spec sheet for the GAC Aion S Plus but we do know that in China, the car has either 410km, 510km or 602km of NEDC range depending on the variant and more than likely, GAC will only bring in 1 variant first as a flagship to play it safe since Malaysia is a new market for the brand.

As far as powertrain options go, the all electric GAC Aion S Plus makes 204hp and 350Nm of torque and manages the century sprint in just 6.8 seconds. The car starts from 139,600 yuan (about RM91,714) in China so when it comes to Malaysia, we can expect a price tag below the very popular BYD Dolphin (about RM110,000 or so).

On top of that, while the overall look of the car is fantastic and the taillight does extend the length of the car, which I do like, I don’t really like the way the rims look. I have nothing against the design, I just find it very basic and it looks quite dated to me. Do you guys like the rim design though?

Well, at the end of the day, the GAC Aion S Plus is likely a very long way away but I hope I am wrong about that as competition is always a good thing.
