Why Are New Tesla Models Banned In Driving Schools In Norway?

With Tesla becoming the most popular brand there, why is it being banned now?

Well, it looks like Tesla has once again found itself in my cross hairs. At this point is anyone surprised I’m about to rant about something related to the brand again? At any rate, Tesla is quickly becoming one of the most popular car brands in Norway but newer models from the brand are being banned from driving schools. Let’s see why.

Okay, so driving schools in Norway have banned newer Tesla electric vehicles (EVs) from being used because, and I am not making this up, because of the new turn signals the brand has employed in its newer vehicles. Yeah, at this point every Tesla story I cover just writes itself, folks.

Moreover, we all know how turn signals work in real cars, right? There is a stalk either on the right or left side of the steering wheel that is pushed up or down to signal to the other vehicles on the road that one is about to turn left or right. However, in a classic Tesla move, the brand has removed the ability to do this all together now.

Yes, the brand that is known for its “minimalist” design language has once again removed yet another common piece of hardware in most cars. The entire signal stalk has been removed since most people who buy a Tesla (outside of Malaysia anyway) use the self-driving which makes turn signals redundant to the driver.

Of course, the feature itself is immensely useful and is needed but Tesla is once again showing off its “I know better than everyone and can see the future” poppycock since it claims that with self driving, cars will no longer need this feature. Gee, I wonder which genius thought this up?

On top of that, It is no secret that I personally despise the very idea of an EV with the burning passion of a billion suns. Yet, there have been a handful of EVs which grew on me over time. The thing about those EVs is that they felt more or less like a normal car on the inside. Tesla, on the other hand, is always trying to be different just to be different.

I can accept it if the brand does something differently for a good reason but this is just unnecessary. After all, many countries still are not yet ready for self-driving cars so a turn signal is still very much needed. What do you guys think though? Has Tesla really gone too far this time?
