NAZA World has donated RM400,000 worth of food and supplies to flood victims via its CSR arm, NAZA World Cares, made up of a community of volunteer staff working within the NAZA Group and Eftra Group.
50 volunteers aboard 12 Chevrolet Colorado and Captiva vehicles made their way to the East coast on Wednesday with five lorries of aid in tow. The supplies were distributed to 1,500 families (approximately 7,500 people altogether) in Kuantan, Pahang and Kuala Krai, Kelantan, who had been displaced by the monsoon floods in that region. In addition to the delivery of aid, NAZA World Cares is organising a second trip when rainfall and flooding subsides, so that they can provide extra manpower for cleaning and rebuilding efforts.
“In the face of unprecedented flooding, it is heartening to see Malaysians unite and combine resources in order to assist families in need. At NAZA, we feel very strongly that we must play a key role in giving back to the community. There is no sense in just sitting around when we have the means to make a difference,” said Mr. Ananthan M. Raman, Head of NAZA World Cares.
This was the third programme that NAZA World Cares was involved with in 2014.
Earlier in the year, the team had assisted in the Kuala Lipis Relief Mission and the Cameron Highlands Flood Relief Mission by donating electronic appliances.
