Kumho Tire Co. Inc. has signed on to sponsor and be the official tire supplier to the 2013 China Touring Car Championship (CTCC), one of the nation’s top car racing events. Kumho said the CTCC features China’s premium-level racers, supported from the Federation of Automobile Sports of PRC and Federation International de l’Automobile.
“Through this partnership with the CTCC, Kumho is able to confirm that our technology and reputation in China are well recognized and increasing in strength,” said Hyung Woo Kim, marketing executive of Kumho Tires China. “We will actively use the CTCC in promoting our technology and brand, as this is an excellent stage to showcase Kumho Tires’ technical capabilities and passion towards motorsports.”
Kumho said more than 10,000 spectators on average come to the races, and it was selected as an official tire supplier to the race for the 2013-2015 period, beating out global tire brand competitors Yokohama Rubber Co. Ltd. and Group Michelin. In China, Kumho Tires began sponsoring the Asia Formula Renault in 2006 and has participated in the China Rally Championship since 2011, Kumho said. In addition to motorsports activities, Kumho Tires is launching a multitude of marketing programs to expand its presence in China.
