This Deepavali 2023, toll plazas won’t be collecting money. Enjoy your toll-free weekend.
The Ministry of Public Works and highway concessionaires have agreed to give Malaysian road users a toll-free weekend this Deepavali. Starting 11 November 2023 12.01am until 12 November 2023 11.59pm, toll exemptions will be granted throughout the country except at the national borders in Johor.
The government anticipates that the volume of traffic on the highways over these next two days will come up to 11.8 million vehicles. Those planning to travel this toll-free weekend are advised to plan their trips using available resources. You may check the traffic status of highways on the Lembaga Lebuhraya Malaysia Facebook page here or on their Twitter/X handle here. You may also call LLM Traffic Management Centre at 1-800-88-7752 for traffic condition details or assistance.
We’ve also shared a screenshot of PLUS Highway’s Deepavali Holiday Travel Time Advisory below:
Traffic is of course anticipated to mostly flow out of the Klang Valley before Deepavali day and back into the Klang Valley on and after Deepavali. If you’re going all the way North to Perlis, Kedah, Pulau Penang or north Perak before Deepavali, it’s advised you leave in the morning between 8am and 11am. Those going north to central Perak should leave in the evening between 4pm and 7pm.
Similarly, if you’re heading all the way to the southern tip of Malaysia leave in the morning but between 10am and 1pm. Those heading south to Negeri Sembilan and Melaka can leave between 1pm and 4pm.
On the way back, if you’re coming back from the north, start your journey between 10am and 1pm. If you’re coming from the South, you’re advised to leave earlier – between 8am and 11am.
Also be sure to check your vehicle before your journey. If you recently had it serviced, it’s still advisable to check your cars fluids and tyres before the trip. These can be done in a matter of minutes! If you haven’t serviced your car yet, head to a workshop and have it looked over by a mechanic. An oil change takes less time than you think, and can easily be done while you have your lunch or tea break as long as you communicate with your mechanic.
