Goodyear History In Asia Pacific
Goodyear has a long history in Asia Pacific that goes back more than a century.
In 1908, the company began buying rubber from Malaysia and Indonesia via a Singaporean trading company. In 1915, they set up their first Asia pacific business with an Australian sales and distribution operation. Two years later, the Goodyear Orient (Private) Company Ltd was set up in Singapore. In 1922, they created a sales and distribution operation in India.
By 1961, the brand had a manufacturing operation in India. They the became the first foreign tyre manufacturer in China. Things have only accelerated since then, with a new plant opening in 2012 there, followed by a development centre in 2015.
