The Porsche Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid is being introduced in SUV and Coupé form.
No proper car manufacturer is immune from tightening emissions rules. Porsche is no exception. The performance car maker recently showed the facelifted 3rd generation Cayenne and now they’re expanding the list of available powertrains with a new variant – the Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid.
The Porsche Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid is available in both SUV or SUV Coupé body styles. This plug-in hybrid gets a revised 4.0L Twin Turbo V8 and an electric motor for a combined system output of 729hp and 950Nm of torque! It has a 0-100km/h time of about 3.5 seconds and a top speed on track of 294km/h.
This variant might be replacing the Cayenne E-Hybrid (with the V6 engine) and introduces a significantly larger high-voltage battery underneath the trunk area. The new battery is 25.9kWh, which allows for longer electric driving range (yet-to-be disclosed, but likely higher than 65km). There’s an 11kW on board charger that allows the vehicles to be charged fully in under two and a half hours with the appropriate wall charger.
Porsche Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid Standard Equipment
The Porsche Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid comes with a high-degree of standard equipment. This includes an adaptive air suspension system with new two-chamber, two-valve technology. Porsche say that this setup has improved comfort and handling with a more perceptible difference between Comfort and Sport Plus drive modes.
Other standard equipment includes Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV Plus) and Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC). Rear axle steering remains a cost option. This version of the Cayenne gets a Turbo-specific front fascia with the larger air intakes as well as air blades in high-gloss black. The wheel arches and lower rear fascia are in body colour. Dual exhaust tailpipes are finished in brushed aluminium while the brake calipers are painted red.
Inside, the aluminium trim on the dash and doors are complemented by a Race-Tex covered roof liner. A heated GT Sport steering wheel is included as are 18-way adjustable leather Sport seats, though these can be swapped out for 14-way adjustable leather Comfort seats for free.
Other standard equipment include HD Matrix design LED headlights, a 15W air conditioned wireless charging pad, a curved, free-standing digital instrument cluster and Comfort Access.
The Porsche Cayanne Turbo E-Hybrid will be coming to certain markets by the second quarter of 2024 and may even be available for order through Sime Darby Auto Performance.
