The Kia EV9 can also apparently charge from 10 to 80 percent in 24 minutes
Korean automaker, Kia, has just revealed full details of the Kia EV9, its first three-row electric flagship SUV that brings a fresh design and new technology to the sector and spearheads the brand’s rapid transformation to a sustainable mobility solutions provider in the era of electrification.
Based on the game-changing Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), the Kia EV9 ensures athletic performance, and targets having a WLTP all-electric range of over 541km. Ultra-fast 800-volt charging allows the car to be charged with sufficient energy to power the vehicle for up to 239km in approximately 15 minutes.
Moreover, guided by the brand’s ‘Opposites United’ design philosophy, the Kia EV9 redefines the all-electric SUV with a unique balance of natural and modern elements. The ‘Bold for Nature’ design pillar, which inspires the combination of elements from the natural and material worlds, also played a pivotal role in the design of the SUV.
The exterior of the Kia EV9 also provides a sense of serene contemporary calmness befitting of a sophisticated EV for a new age of sustainable mobility. The SUV features a 3,100mm wheelbase, and measures 5,010mm overall. It also measures 1,980mm wide and 1,755mm tall, making it an imposing presence.
Kia’s strategic commitment to become a leader in sustainable mobility, in line with its goal to achieve carbon neutrality by 2045, extends beyond the provision of zero-emission EV drivetrains. It also encompasses the use of sustainable materials and the EV9 takes this to the next level, with eco-friendly materials applied all over.
On top of that, the Kia EV9 also features a broad choice of electric powertrain configurations utilising the brand’s fourth-generation battery. A 76.1-kWh battery is offered exclusively on the Rear Wheel Drive Standard model, while a 99.8-kWh battery is fitted to both the RWD Long Range and All Wheel Drive variants.
The AWD variant is equipped with two electric motors that together unleash a total power output of 283kW and a combined torque of 600Nm enabling the top variant of the Kia EV9 to surge from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6 seconds while an optional Boost feature, available for later purchase at the Kia Connect Store brings the torque to 700Nm, enabling a 5.3 second century sprint time.
Being a family vehicle, the Kia EV9 features many ADAS features including Remote Smart Parking Assist 2 which enables the EV9 to park itself . It also sports ultrasonic sensors to detect obstacles as well ensuring the safety of everyone in the car at all times and makes every ride more comfortable and convenient.
So now that Kia has released all this and revealed that the EV9 is indeed coming to the U.S, will it come to Malaysia soon after?
