The Hyundai Ioniq 6, which is the 2023 World Car of the Year and is now available here
Hyundai-Sime Darby Motors (HSDM) has officially launched the stunning Hyundai Ioniq 6 in Malaysia. Holder of three prestigious global awards namely, the 2023 World Car of the Year, 2023 World Electric Vehicle of the Year and 2023 World Car Design of the Year but is all this enough to justify its price tag especially since the competition is hilariously cheaper.
Sime Darby Motors Managing Director of Retail and Distribution for Malaysia Mr Jeffrey Gan, said, “The Ioniq 6 is one of the few EVs on the planet with an 800-volt architecture, letting it accept up to 350 kW DC charging, which would make possible a 10 percent to 80 percent charge time of just 18 minutes. In fact, the Ioniq 6 is one of the world’s fastest-charging EVs.” He added.
Moreover, the Hyundai Ioniq 6 comes in 2 variants in Malaysia, specifically the Max RWD and Max AWD, with the former powered by a single-motor and the latter, dual-motor. Both are powered by a high-capacity 77.4 kW lithium-ion polymer battery, yielding 614km for the RWD model and 519km of range and the Max AWD makes a total of 239kW of power and a staggering 605Nm of torque, launching it from 0 to 100km/h in just 5.1 seconds.
HSDM Managing Director Mr Low Yuan Lung, stated, “The Ioniq 6 is priced, on-the-road before insurance, at RM289,888 for the Max RWD variant and RM319,888 for the Max AWD variant, inclusive of an eight-year/160,000 km battery warranty. For an additional RM10,000, the standard vehicle warranty is upgradable to five years/100,000 km, and attached to this is three years/50,000 km of free service.”
On top of that, the Hyundai Ioniq 6 is five-star Euro NCAP-rated, and features seven airbags as well as a comprehensive Hyundai SmartSense suite of active safety systems as standard. These include Remote Smart Parking Assist, which lets the driver remotely manoeuvre the car forwards and backwards so it is also more convenient to drive..
Another innovative feature of the Hyundai Ioniq 6 is Vehicle-to-Load (V2L), which turns the car into a mobile power bank using two electrical outlets (one inside and one outside). This allows the Hyundai Ioniq 6 to charge and power a variety of devices and appliances, from laptops and TVs to camping equipment and electric bikes. It could even be used to recharge another EV.
The Hyundai ioniq 6 is offered in five distinct body colours, namely, Abyss Black Pearl, Nocturne Grey Matte, Biophilic Blue Pearl, Dive Blue Solid and Gravity Gold Matte.
