Casio Computer Co., Ltd. has unveiled its latest addition to the popular EDIFICE line of timepieces, inspired by the brand’s core concept of “Speed and Intelligence.” The newly launched ECB-40MU is a special collaboration between EDIFICE and MUGEN (officially known as M-TEC Company, Ltd.), the renowned Honda works brand.
MUGEN is widely recognized for its involvement in various motorsports-related endeavors, including F1TM, the Isle of Man TT,, and professional racing in Japan. Casio has been a long-standing partner of MUGEN since their collaboration in the motorcycle endurance race of 1985, providing unwavering support for the company’s activities.
Celebrating the 50th anniversary of MUGEN, the ECB-40MU marks the first-ever collaboration between MUGEN and EDIFICE, a line of Casio timepieces that embodies the essence of motorsports. The watch design showcases MUGEN’s signature colors—white, red, gold, and black—highlighting the dial, band loop, and stitching against an overall sleek black backdrop. Notably, the band features an embossed Eye Commander logo, symbolizing MUGEN’s indomitable spirit, along with the prominent MUGEN brand logo.
An exquisite detail of the ECB-40MU is the bezel engraving, which employs the font used on MUGEN’s iconic shift knobs. This exclusive feature imparts a unique aesthetic, characteristic of limited edition models. Additionally, the timepiece boasts a carbon fiber-reinforced resin case, a four-lug design inspired by formula race car suspensions, and an Alcantara band known for its exceptional durability and breathability—commonly used in sports car interiors.
Equipped with Mobile Link functionality, the ECB-40MU seamlessly pairs with a smartphone via Bluetooth®, providing automatic time correction and effortless setting of world time and other functions. The watch also includes practical features such as a Schedule Timer, which synchronizes with a smartphone’s calendar app to display scheduled activity start and end times on the watch’s LCD.
