Could This Chery eQ7 EV SUV With 512KM Range Be Coming To Malaysia?

After successfully launching two petrol models, will Chery bring in an EV next?

Chery has successfully launched in Malaysia and in a very short time, the brand has managed some truly amazing feats and even set new records and went beyond projected sales figures. Since the brand launched with two petrol powered units, could it be offering an EV next?

Well, as of 12 July 2023, the first mass-production version of the Chery eQ7 all-electric SUV has officially rolled off the production line and it is expected to start at around 150,000 yuan (USD20,900) and launch later this year. With the Omoda 5 being so popular, this could be the next big hit from Chery Malaysia.

Moreover, the eQ7 name is only temporary and it is also Chery New Energy’s 660,000th vehicle that officially rolled off the production line. The finalised name will be revealed in the near future as part of a naming campaign where Chery is leaving it up to the public to help name the electric vehicle (EV).

The Chery eQ7 adopts a design language called “Super Digital,” with sleek headlights , through-type tail lights, and a floating roof but still retains the traditional door handles. The Chery eQ7 also measures 4,675mm in length, 1,910mm in width, 1,660mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,830mm.

On top of that, the Chery eQ7 is powered by a 155kW rear-wheel drive motor and a lithium iron phosphate battery pack giving the EV a top speed of 180km/h. According to previous declaration information, the eQ7 also has a pure electric cruising range of 512 km. This would be a good thing for EV buyers here in Malaysia.

On the inside, the Chery eQ7 is just as futuristic and high tech as it features the popular dual-screen infotainment and digital driver display design as well as a flat-bottom steering wheel. The eQ7 also includes voice control, 64-color ambient lighting, an air filtration system, automatic temperature control, and more than 20 level 2 advanced driving assistance functions.

The seats also come standard with heating, ventilation, massage, and electronically adjustable leg rest making the Chery eQ7 more than premium enough to compete with any other EV on the market while still being safe and affordable. So, do you guys  think the eQ7 would be a sales success here? I think so.
