Seiko introduces four new solar-powered Prospex chronographs.
Seiko, a renowned pioneer in sports timing, has been setting new global standards for precision since the 1960s. Continuing its tradition of excellence, Seiko proudly introduces four new solar chronographs in the Prospex collection. Inspired by their rich heritage in sports timing, these timepieces showcase the cutting-edge solar chronograph Caliber 8A50, capable of measuring elapsed time in precise 1/100th of a second increments.
Unmatched Precision and Functionality
Each watch in the Prospex collection features a thoughtfully designed dial layout. At the two o’clock position, a 1/100th of a second chronograph counter provides accurate timing. A seconds counter is positioned at 12 o’clock, while a 1/10th of a second counter is located at 10 o’clock. To ensure clear differentiation between time-of-day and chronograph functions, a dedicated time-of-day sub-dial displaying hours and minutes is placed at the six o’clock position. When utilizing the stopwatch function, the time-of-day sub-dial transforms into a 60-minute counter, with the hour hand concealed beneath the minute hand. The hands and indexes of the time-of-day display are filled with Lumibrite, enhancing legibility even in low-light conditions. These intricately designed features ensure high operability and accuracy when measuring elapsed time, making them essential for every Prospex Speedtimer creation.
A Testament to Sporting Excellence
Seiko’s affiliation with world-class sporting events is unparalleled. For the 18th consecutive time, Seiko has been chosen as the official timekeeper of the World Athletics Championships in Budapest, Hungary. To celebrate this esteemed partnership, Seiko presents a limited edition solar chronograph that pays homage to both Seiko’s heritage and the World Athletics Championships. The dial is textured, reminiscent of a running track’s surface, while the hands and outer ring of each sub-dial are adorned in gold, symbolizing the glory of a first-place medal.
A Tribute to Watchmaking Achievements
One of the limited-edition creations features a captivating grey-toned dial, commemorating the 40th anniversary of the world’s first analog quartz chronograph introduced by Seiko in 1983. The dial and reddish-orange hands pay homage to Seiko’s groundbreaking achievement in 1992 when they launched the world’s first analog chronograph capable of displaying elapsed time in 1/100th of a second increments. This remarkable breakthrough in Seiko’s analog quartz chronograph history is rightfully celebrated with this special timepiece.
