Kenneth Koh and Nicole Perreau won the final round of the 2014 Malaysian Rally Championship (28-30 November) in the 2WD and P10 (1600cc) categories for PROTON R3 Rally Team.  It’s a fitting finale to the season despite the retirement of Karamjit Singh and Jagdev Singh in the first leg of the rally due to a fire.

Rally Perlis 2014 has been a very rough and dry rally with the usual rains staying away from the Chuping area which has traditionally been the location for this event.  This event saw many retirements among the 20 competitors that started with almost half of the field facing problems from  accidents or mechanical problems.

Despite his retirement,  Karamjit Singh has already accumulated enough points to be crowned the 2014 2WD Malaysian Rally Champion.  He has also managed to seal the P10 class championship as well.  Kenneth Koh finishes the season 2nd in the P10 championship and 3rd in the 2WD championship giving PROTON R3 a 1-2 finish in the P10 category for the 2014 season.

Team Proton R3 will immediately swap out their gravel rally tyres for semi-slick tarmac tyres as they prepare for the Sepang 1000KM race in the Sepang International Circuit which starts on the 6th of December. The team will compete with its Proton Suprima S R3 and Preve R3 race cars.  The drivers’ line-up will consist of Tengku Djan Ley, Syafiq Ali, James Veerapen and Tengku Ezan Ley.
